Outdoor Plant Area Assistant (Garden Centre)
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: Competitive
Hours: 37.5 per week, rota basis including weekends

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established, family-run garden centre business as an Outdoor Team Member, working within a dedicated horticultural team in a premium retail environment where quality plants and customer experience are key.


The business has built a strong reputation for high standards across both horticulture and retail, alongside a positive and supportive workplace culture. They are now looking for someone enthusiastic and hands-on who is keen to develop their skills and grow a career within horticulture.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Caring for and maintaining the quality of outdoor plants to ensure excellent retail standards.
  • Merchandising plants, compost, and associated products to create attractive displays.
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the outdoor plant area as part of a team.
  • Providing helpful advice and excellent customer service to meet customer needs.
  • Working closely with team members and managers to maintain high standards across the department.
  • Assisting with stock handling and general upkeep of the outdoor area.

  • An interest or passion for gardening and plants.
  • Previous horticultural or retail experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • A friendly, approachable personality with a strong team ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a horticultural environment.
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor, physically demanding role in all weather conditions.
  • Experience with manual handling or similar practical work is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work a rota including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to commute to the Cheltenham site.
